I've been writing lies, and you may have believed them

Just got back from the NIH (national institutes of health) conference, "media in the marketing," and my eyes have been greatly opened--to say the least.

i'm slightly appalled at the misinformation I've been given and have passed on to consumers as a healthcare writer over the past five years. now i just have to figure out how to right those wrongs. i mean, it's not like anyone necessarily meant to give misinformation (some do, obviously--to sell a product), but we the people don't know what that information means. so we translate it into what we can understand, which is...wrong. sometimes incredibly wrong.

and while some of the stuff i heard sounds like propoganda (especially when i relay it to others), it's coming from the nih. they're THE experts. and they're admitting they've had involvement in the issue, and they're trying to right it by equipping journalists with knowledge.

and some of the stuff i learned will BLOW YOUR MIND.

i'll write more later...gotta keep working, and my brain is still swirling.
